Lambert hopes their concerns can be addressed, by police and the city. “Sometimes they’ll stop and tell us, ‘you want to be careful.’ So we’re almost living like prisoners in our own neighborhood,” Lambert said, adding that she finds it hard to enjoy time outside, due to a worry for her safety. Lambert said she is part of the neighborhood watch and has talked to police about their response here. “You name it, it goes on,” Lambert added, “I would say that this motel is the equivalent to the ones that were out on Aurora.” Lambert also has concerns about the property. Someone staying at the motel who spoke with KOMO News said they heard gunshots Tuesday night and that someone was shot.Īcross the street from the motel, KOMO News spoke to Abdull, the owner of ‘I Ryde Auto Sales.’ Abdull blames those staying at the ‘Kent Valley Motel,’ for many of the crimes that have made it more than difficult for him to run his business. The motel appeared to be fairly occupied early Wednesday morning. KOMO News crews witnessed officers going in and out of a motel room on the south corner of the building. Investigators were still at the scene gathering information and taking photos at 6 a.m. KPD Major Crimes detectives responded to the scene and are investigating. The department said, “early reports indicate that this was not a random incident.” Police said a suspect has not been identified or taken into custody. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but the KPD said the man and woman “had both already succumbed to their injuries.” When officers arrived, they found a 43-year-old man from Kent and a 32-year-old woman from Alaska who had been shot inside one of the motel rooms.
